This project aims to support and facilitate the establishment of an African internet infrastructure through the set-up of internet exchange points (IXP) in 33 African Countries,

  • the establishment of 5 Regional Internet Hubs and of 5 Regional Internet Carriers
  • the establishment of 3 Continental Internet Carriers as well as
  • providing policy & regulatory reform, capacity building and technical assistance for ISP Associations.

 The ITF Grant will be used in particular for the financing of the establishment of Project Implementation Unit (PMU) to be located at the African Union Commission as well as the mobilization of an Internet Service Provider Association (ISPA) Task Force and an African Internet Exchange Task Force.
